Estimated $3.7 million worth of suspected drugs seized by Manitoulin OPP

Over three and a half million dollars worth of suspected drugs are off area streets.

That’s according to Manitoulin OPP who says officers seized over 25 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and over 15 grams of suspected cocaine in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.

The OPP says shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a complaint of a damaged black pickup truck parked in a residential driveway on HWY 17. Police say the complainant spoke to the driver and believed they were impaired.

Officials say officers arrived and spoke to the driver, determining they had been consuming alcohol. After a search of the vehicle, an estimated $ 3.7 million dollars of suspected drugs were found.

The OPP adds with the support of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Canine Unit, they also seized over $3,400, 39-millimetre rounds of ammunition and more.

The 35-year-old from Chestermere, Alberta, was charged with impaired, drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and more.

The accused was held for bail court on May 10.
