The Chief and Council of Wiikwemkoong welcomed the new Acting Police Chief for Wikwemikong Tribal Police Services last week.

Chief Rachel Manitowabi and her council were on hand at the Wiikwemkoong Health Centre Healing Lodge for a sunrise ceremony and breakfast to welcome Jason Spooner to the community.

Manitowabi says Spooner brings 22 years of policing having formerly served as Acting Chief of Police at Lac Seul Police Service for 3 ½ years and most recently Sioux Lookout OPP.

She encourages community members to meet with Spooner and share any concerns or suggestions they have with the new acting police chief.
