A sweet donation was made by the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township Fire Department to the Massey Food Bank.
Jillana Goodchild, the department’s public relations officer, says several firefighters and volunteers were on hand to turn over a cheque for over $1,000 to Massey Food Bank volunteer Donelda Cannard on Wednesday evening.
She says the funds were raised through one of their fundraisers overseen by their PERF committee, which focuses on public education, recruitment and fundraising throughout the township.
Goodchild adds the money was raised at their Sweetheart Dance held at the Webbwood Eagles on February 11th, adding the members host several fundraisers to not only raise funds for local groups but to also support their own training initiatives, equipment, and programs.
