Algoma District School Board introduces new phase to athletics

Algoma District School Board is introducing a new phase in their Focused, Individualized, Training Programming, called FIT focusing on academics and athletics.

The board system administrator Mendy Snider who is overseeing the academy says the new programming is being introduced this fall for such sports as swimming, gymnastics, dancing, or cross-country skiing during the 2023-2024 school year.

She explains the approach involves placing equal emphasis on both academics and athletics and will be introduced to Grade seven and eight students at White Pines in Sault Ste. Marie.

And, unlike other school programs, there is a $500 fee with a deposit of $100 required at registration.
