Algoma District School Board & CUPE ratify new four-year agreement

The Algoma District School Board and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 16, representing custodial and maintenance staff, have ratified a four-year local collective agreement.

Board chair Jennifer Sarlo says the new agreement will further improve the relationship with caretaking and maintenance employees adding the board values the contribution they make in creating a positive environment.

CUPE chair Ryan Finnemore adds the local is happy they were able to ratify the new agreement allowing CUPE members to continue contributing to the success of students in clean and safe schools.

The deal is retroactive to September 1st, 2022 and expires August 31st, 2026.

Previously, a central agreement was ratified between CUPE and the Government of Ontario / Ontario Public School Boards Association on December 19th, 2022 at the provincial level.
