Elliot Lake pool repair broken down into three phases

Repairing the public pool in Elliot Lake will take place this year with the hope the facility will be repaired and reopened by the fall.

Acting Manager of Public Works, Bill Goulding, says the three phases of work are estimated to cost around $3-million dollars.

Goulding says Tulloch Engineering is putting together the documents at this time for the first two phases; the repair of the wooden ceiling inside the facility as phase one and the demolishment of the pool deck as phase two.

He says taking out the pool deck is vital to access the plumbing repairs that are to be carried out as phase three of the project, as well as for reinstalling it and adding the final finishes to the area.

Goulding says a design team, IDEA of Sault Ste. Marie, has been hired to complete the final design work on the project.

With council’s approval, the tendering process will proceed with the repair work expected to being within the next few weeks.
