Will she win it again? Shawanda Up for another JUNO

She has already won two JUNO awards in two different categories, and now Manitoulin Island’s Crystal Shawanda is up for a third.

Her latest album, Midnight Blue, has been nominated for Blues Album of the year.

Hailing from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, Shawanda started singing country music professionally at the age of 14 and won immediate success after signing with RCA Nashville in 2008 and releasing the album, Dawn of the New Day.

A year later, she created her own label, New Sun Records, switched to the blues, and has not looked back since.

She won the Blue category for her album ‘Church House Blues’ in 2020 and is once again nominated this year with the awards taking place in Edmonton on March 13th.
