Breaking the ice with North Shore Search and Rescue

Members of the North Shore Search & Rescue Ice Rescue Team recertified at the Ice Rescue Technician and Ice Rescue Awareness Levels this past weekend.

Adam Page, the Unit’s Search Coordinator, says their Ice Rescue Team has been active over the last four years, and the training ensures they can assist with rescues in isolated locations during the winter months.

Page adds in recent years, the members have raised funds to enhance their service with additional navigation equipment, marine equipment and updated vehicles, which helped them expand their abilities to respond to emergency situations.

Page says anyone who enjoys the outdoors and wants to join their dedicated group of volunteers is more than welcome to apply.

NSSAR is a dedicated, highly skilled group of volunteers who assist emergency services with missing persons, remote rescue, ice rescue, marine assistance, and much more For more information about NSSAR email [email protected] or call 705-869-8587.
