The news could not be better for the Angel Bus, which provides medical transportation to Manitoulin Island’s west end.
The Angel Committee had been able to find an adapted wheelchair-accessible van at the cost of $170,000 but was short $30,000 to clinch the deal by yesterday’s deadline of midnight.
However, following a call out to the wider public, including the Moose radio stations, the committee, run entirely by volunteers, was able to raise enough funds and is looking forward to the arrival of the new vehicle.
The committee sends out a huge thank you to the public for their support for the Angel Bus, which provides an average of 100 medical trips for Manitoulin Lodge long-term care residents, hospital clients and others in need of transportation.
