FedNor funding for Blind River’s marina infrastructure

FedNor has come through with funds once again to assist the Town of Blind River in upgrading its marina.

Minister of Indigenous Services, Patty Hadju, who also oversees FedNor, says the Town of Blind River is receiving a non-repayable grant of half a million dollars ($500,000) to complete work on revitalizing its dock and marina facilities.

The funding will be used to replace existing infrastructure to create a fully accessible dock area with 24 transient boat slips all equipped with electrical and potable water.

An emergency docking area will also be built for boats in distress and an area for private-sector businesses to work on boats that are too large for a land-based workshop.

The project builds on previous work including a new accessible boardwalk, the erection of pavilions and marketing the community as a tourist destination connecting marine visitors to the community’s public beach and downtown area.
