East Algoma OPP investigating a fatal hit and run

A hit-and-run involving the death of a pedestrian is being investigated by the OPP.

East Algoma OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says shortly after 9 pm last Friday evening, police were called out to investigate a hit and run where a pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 17, near Green Bay Road and Boundary Road just west of Bruce Mines in Plummer Additional Township.

She says police are hoping there may be some motorists, who were travelling in the area at the time of the incident, who can provide dash cam footage.

Gauthier adds the name will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

She says the investigation is continuing.
