Long-time nurse practitioner to be feted this week

Two North Shore First Nation communities will honour one of their long-time health practitioners this week.

Leila Macumber, the health director for Serpent River First Nation says long-time nurse practitioner Judy Gillingham has retired from her position after serving the Maamwesying North Shore Community Services for the last 14 years.

Macumber says Gillingham provided excellent care to clients in Serpent River and Mississauga First Nations and her services are much appreciated.

She adds the communities will draw together this Wednesday at the Kenabutch Health Centre from 3 to 5 pm to honour Gillingham and her dedication over the years.

Macumber says the service is seeking candidates to fill the vacancy, so in the meantime, there is a transition plan in place to continue providing services to clients.
