Judge denies province’s appeal to deny annuity case – next step, the Supreme Court

A legal team to update annuities paid to First Nation signatories of the Robinson Huron treaty is focusing on its next court battle with the Ontario government.

Justice Patricia Hennessy officially denied Ontario’s motion to adjourn Stage Three of the Restoule litigation pending Ontario’s appeal of Stages One and Two at the Supreme Court of Canada in November.

Stage Three is to proceed on January 16th.

Ontario’s appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada is expected to be heard in the fall.
