Teddy Bear Toss returns to Espanola complex – Paper Kings down with the flu

The Teddy Bear Toss returns to the Espanola complex after being held outside at the Legion during the pandemic.

Espanola Lions Club spokesperson Grant Lewis says the toss returns to the complex this Friday evening during a period break between the Espanola Paper Kings game against the Powassan Voodoos for the Lions’ annual toy drive.

The public is invited to bring their bears and stuffies to throw on the ice with the puck drop at 7:30 pm.

That said, it all depends on how the Kings recover from a bout of flu.

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has announced that Wednesday’s (tonight’s) originally scheduled game between the Espanola Paper Kings and Soo Thunderbirds at John Rhodes Community Centre in Sault Ste. Marie has been postponed.

With the Paper Kings roster currently battling a flu bug throughout the majority of its line-up, the contest has been called off for the health and safety of all those involved.

The NOJHL will announce the make-up date, and time, for this match-up once it is finalized by the league office.
