Nairn & Hyman Township planning a community orchard

The council in Nairn & Hyman Township is considering a community orchard in the township but is looking to the community for their support and ideas.

According to the survey, the township is looking at growing a variety of fruit trees that would be accessible to all residents.

Council wants to also gauge whether there is interest in the overall project and is asking for citizens to provide input by December 2nd for further discussion at the December 12th meeting.

So far, council is considering three different locations; a vacant lot at the end of Spanish Lane or next to the outdoor rink or on town property at the intersection of Nelson and MacDonald streets, but other suggestions are welcome.

All input can be submitted via email, by calling the municipal office or email.

The email to send information to is: [email protected] or call 705-869-4232.
