Anyone driving down Bass Lake Road will notice a large landmark, the old water tower, is now gone.
Following the move of the local radio’s transmitter and the construction of the new water main, the old, green water tower installed decades ago was torn down yesterday.
Contractors used huge cables called excavators to bring the tower down safely.
The old tower had been used as the location for the transmitter for the local radio station for many years, but with the building of the new main waterline in Espanola, the decision was made to take down the tower to ensure public safety.
The radio’s transmitter is now located on the new water tower on Public Works grounds.
