Wearing masks recommended by Ontario agency

The Ontario Medical Association is advising us to wear face masks while we’re in indoor locations, as the number of people suffering from respiratory infections continues to mount.

The association says influenza season has arrived early this year, and teenagers and children seem to be the hardest hit.

Doctors say they’re bracing for a very difficult season, with the flu not expected to peak until January or February.

They’re urging Ontarians to get their flu and COVID vaccinations as soon as possible, to help reduce the risk that our hospitals will become overcrowded.

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, in Ottawa, announced yesterday it’s had to divert staff to open a second Intensive Care Unit for children suffering from COVID-19, the flu, and other respiratory viruses.
