Charges filed after crash just west of Espanola

A 38-year-old driver from Bowmanville has been charged after a collision around 8 am Wednesday, Oct. 26 on Highway 17 west of Espanola.

Ontario Provincial Police say the investigation revealed several vehicles came to a stop for a school bus when an eastbound transport truck did not slow down and rear-ended another transport, which was hauling an empty car carrier.

Police say there were no injuries but there was extensive damage to one of the trucks, requiring the clean-up of a spill on the highway and shoulder.

Charges filed include careless driving and failing to maintain daily logs.

Police say the driver was issued Provincial Offence Notices, and if convicted, carries set fines of $890 and a total of six demerit points.
