Medical services are being expanded in Elliot Lake by opening a new clinic.
The clinic will be located on the first floor of the ELNOS building three days a week, Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 am to 4 pm.
Patients can book appointments through a dedicated phone line starting at 8:30 am on the same days of the clinics until the days are filled.
The service is open to providing non-emergency care to patients with or without a physician or nurse practitioner.
It should be noted, this is not a walk-in clinic, and an appointment must be made.
The opening of the clinic is a result of ongoing commitment and collaboration with community partners to find innovative ways to care for the people of Elliot Lake and the surrounding area.
Officials say once the appointments are filled for the day, a pre-recorded message will advise callers that appointments are no longer being accepted and options for care will be offered.
Officials say the clinic can provide options to a variety of patients that need to be urgently assessed and treated for minor problems such as rashes, bladder infections, earaches, minor injuries, or pain. Individuals who require urgent prescription renewals for non-controlled medications and requisitions for lab work may also book appointments and access the Clinic.
Information posters will be distributed throughout the community and further education about the Clinic will be posted on the Elliot Lake Family Health Team Facebook page in the coming days. The Family Health Team says its excited to provide this new service to the community and looks forward to other initiatives to improve the care they provide in the future.
