Espanola man wins prestigious provincial award

An Espanola man is one of 20 Ontario volunteers and organizations recognized with the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism for contributions to their communities and the province.
Dennis Lendrum received the Individual Award for Excellence in Volunteer Management yesterday for envisioning making his community inclusive for everyone.
According to the release, over the last few years, Lendrum has been instrumental in organizing volunteers to help beautify and improve Black Creek Sno-Trails, ensuring the area is barrier-free for people with disabilities.
Last year, he focused on expanding the trail resulting in the creation of 1.5 kilometres of accessible paths for people requiring mobility devices.
Lendrum is also an avid supporter of people living with autism having founded the group Autism Acceptance, which has become a well-known online support platform for the autism community.
