Espanola’s École catholique La Renaissance is looking forward to a historical moment in history.
Paul de la Riva, Communication director for the French Catholic board says students and staff will dress in green and white today to attend the raising of the official Franco-Ontario flag.
He says town council adopted a resolution recognizing Ontario’s Franco-Ontarian Day so this is the first time the flag will officially fly in front of municipal hall.
He adds Mayor Jill Beer will meet with the students who are also hosting a parade through town to celebrate their culture and the raising of the flag.
De la Riva adds Franco-Ontarian Day is September 25th, so students are hosting related activities throughout the week.
