Espanola and Sagamok host walks to mark International Overdose Awareness Day

Two local communities took part in International Overdose Awareness Day activities.

Sagamok-Anishnabek First Nation and Espanola held walks yesterday to not only remember those who had died from an overdose, but also to heighten public awareness of opioid addiction, the stigma attached to addiction, and the services that are available.

The Sagamok health team and Public Health Sudbury & Districts respectively hosted workshops providing educational material and the role the public can play in helping someone who is addicted.

Sagamok capped off its day with a lighting of lanterns at the river in memory of loved ones.
