Laurentian University hosts Canadian high school students for Shad Canada

Sudbury and the North Shore were the focus of several students taking part in Shad Canada’s day program that ran throughout the month of July.

Laurentian University coordinator Christina Laforge says the institution is one of 21 host universities that hosted grade 10 and 11 students, with 56 of them from across Canada coming to Sudbury.

She says students lived on campus throughout the month where they tackled various social and economic challenges and entrepreneurial initiatives.

As part of the programming, they participated in various workshops, met with industry leaders, and even took part in a camping trip to Chutes Provincial Park in Massey to discover the natural surroundings.

Laforge encourages parents and students to find out more about the program by either contacting the university or checking out Shad Canada to see if the programming would fit into their educational goals.
