Charges laid following fatal collision on Highway 17

An Espanola teen is facing charges following an investigation into a fatal collision by Manitoulin OPP.

Constable Tessa Kasch says on June 26th, Highway 17 was closed for several hours following a two-vehicle collision on Sand Bay Road.

She says the investigation revealed a vehicle had been rear-ended by another and one of the drivers was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

She says the motorist has succumbed to their injuries and as a result, an 18-year-old woman from Espanola was charged yesterday with careless driving causing bodily harm and careless driving causing death.

Kasch says the teen is to appear in Espanola court on August 18th.
