Disturbance call leads to assault with a weapon charge

Mississauga First Nation police report a 41-year-old person from the community is facing an assault with a weapon charge.

This is after a disturbance call on Bonekeosh Street on July 18.

Police say the investigation determined a person with a walking stick went to the community garden and greenhouse construction site and ran towards an employee.

Authorities also say profanities were yelled at the worker and the walking stick was then broken, with one end used to imitate a stabbing motion towards the worker’s face.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court in Elliot Lake on September 1.
