OPP report drowning on Lake Mindemoya

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the Manitoulin Detachment are reporting a drowning on Lake Mindemoya.  

OPP officers along with United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Police Service (UCCM) and Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services responded just before 2 pm on Wednesday, July 13. 

The OPP says the investigation revealed that the individual was kayaking, did not return home and was later located along the shoreline. 

The deceased is identified as 46-year-old Joseph Whitall, from Hanmer.

A post-mortem examination will take place in Toronto at a later date.
