Larry Killens, a retired Manitoulin OPP constable from Whitby, Ontario has passed away.
Killens became an OPP officer in 1968 and served until his resignation in 1996.
He then was elected to the Rainbow District School Board where he served as an advocate for Manitoulin Island schools.
He moved to Whitby last spring to be closer to his grandchildren but always considered Manitoulin Island his home.
Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes acknowledged his contributions, not only as an officer and trustee, but also as a volunteer working with many organizations throughout his retirement years.
Funeral arrangements are being finalized.
Killens was 75.
