Dr. Jane Goodall/PM Justin Trudeau in Sudbury yesterday to celebrate Sudbury’s 10-millionth tree

A world-renowned scientist was joined in Sudbury by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau yesterday for an important milestone being celebrated by the city.

The public was invited to attend a celebration at Bell Park yesterday afternoon, at which the 10-millionth tree in the city’s 44-year regreening effort was planted with scientist Dr. Jane Goodall taking part.

Espanola resident and scout leader, Rob Haarmeyer with 1st Copper Cliff Scouts says his troupe was honoured to be there, not only to greet Goodall, but to make her an honourary member of the troupe.

He adds the troupe also got to participate in tree planting for an upcoming IMAX movie on the regreening of Sudbury.

The milestone was also attended by city dignitaries and congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

. As part of the event Sudbury 15th presented Jane with a Knecker making her an honorary member of their troop.
