École publique de Blind River unveils new name

A Blind River French public school has a new name

Students and staff were joined by Director of Education, Sébastien Fontaine in unveiling the new name for École publique de Blind River late last week.

Fontaine says during the school year, students, staff and the school community were invited to suggest a name for their new school.

He says following that consultation, the name École publique des Pins Blancs, which translates to White Pines Public School, was chosen.

Fontaine say the name refers to the lumbering history of the community, which was founded in 1906 as a direct result of the lumber and sawmill industry.

The new school opened its doors last fall and offers Junior Kindergarten to Grade eight programs.

WEB: Parents wishing to register their children for the upcoming school year can contact the school at 705-356-3333 or visit the websites https://grandnord.ca/ or https://epbr.grandnord.ca/ to consult the registration procedures.
