The Manitoulin OPP is continuing its investigation of a fatal collision involving two motor vehicles.
Constable Tessa Kasch says on Sunday afternoon around 1 pm police were called out to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 at Sand Bay Road.
She says the preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles collided and one of the drivers was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition and later succumbed to their injuries.
Kasch says the driver has been identified as 66-year-old Fern Belanger from Nairn Centre.
She adds the passenger of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries while the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Kasch adds Highway 17 was closed for a significant amount of time while police conducted their investigation, which continues, and that further updates will be provided as they become available.
