Mindemoya water treatment intake pipe Lake Mindemoya Hazard

The Township of Central Manitoulin has put out a notice about a possible hazard on Lake Mindemoya.

The township says a 200 to 300 metre section of the intake pipe for the Mindemoya water treatment plant has come to the surface of Lake Mindemoya approximately 450 metres from shore.

The location is in front of the water treatment plant (at Old Highway 551 and Ketchankookum Road.)

Efforts are currently underway to have the section of intake pipe marked with buoys until it can be fixed. Those navigating by boat or personal watercraft should avoid the area of Lake Mindemoya until further notice.

Currently there are no problems with the water system itself.
