Manitoulin OPP seeking information on shooting on the Island

Manitoulin OPP is assisting UCCM Anishnaabe Police in the search for a shooter. Constable Michelle Simard says on Friday evening just before midnight, Anishnaabe police were called out about a weapons complaint at an address on Wiingush Miikan, Sheguiandah First Nation.

She says when police arrived on the scene, they found a 32-year-old person who had sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Simard says the suspect fled the area prior to police arriving.

She adds police believe the victim was targeted and that this is an isolated incident.

Simard says the investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call their nearest police service or Crime Stoppers.

Further information will be released as it becomes available.
