Homelessness Challenge continues to do well

The Homeless Challenge in Elliot Lake will wrap up tomorrow but not before members of the Elliot Lake Women’s Group and the mayor got their message out about taking more than one community to help those who have no home.

Group interim executive director Theresa Hiuser has been on site at the tent city over the week and says Mayor Dan Marchisella has done a great job in getting the word out about homelessness being something that everyone can deal with.

Hiuser says she has spoken to several people over the past few days, but formal presentations were also made throughout the district to all the councils and community groups.

She adds the group has been successful in raising their $5,000 for the challenge while Mayor Marchisella continues to raise the matching funds.

To make a donation, visit our websites for the Go Fund Me or drop by the tent city set up at the former Algo Mall site.

Donations to the homelessness challenge can be made through the city of Elliot Lake website – https://forms.elliotlake.ca/Donation-Form? or the gofundme page set up by Maplegate House at https://www.gofundme.com/f/mayors-homelessness-challenge?  or by visiting Mayor Marchisella at his homeless site at the old Algo Mall location until June 25th.
