Road construction on Highway 17 – expect slowdowns and full stops

Motorists can expect to see plenty of slowdowns and full stops this summer when driving through the North Shore corridor.

Major construction zones are found along Highway 17, west of the Espanola turnoff, the first for several kilometres from McKerrow to the east entrance of Webbwood.

There’s another smaller project between Webbwood and Massey and then major work just east of the entrance to Massey.

Various contractors are carrying out the road work which includes widening the shoulders and resurfacing, as well as new guide rails.

Most the roadwork is expected to take up the brunt of the summer.

Resurfacing work is underway on Highway 17, including east of Webbwood, between Webbwood and Massey and in Massey itself. Photos by Rosalind Russell
