Most mask mandates removed

Most mask mandates in Ontario will be lifted as of midnight, Friday night.
The province’s chief medical officer of health, Doctor Kieran Moore, says the COVID-19 situation continues to ease, helped by high vaccination rates.
However, masks will still be required in long-term care and retirement homes.
Moore says they’re also still recommended for high-risk congregate settings, such as shelters and group
homes.
He adds organizations will be able to set their own rules.
Several major hospitals have already said they’ll keep their mask requirements in place.
The mandates were to be lifted in late April but Moore ordered their extension due to increasing numbers of cases involving the Omicron variant.
