Police checks moving online

The Ontario Provincial Police is moving record checks online next week.

Deputy Commissioner of Field Operations Chris Harkins says the new process goes online June 13th.

He says the new process will allow those living in OPP-policed communities to submit requests for police record checks including criminal record, judicial matters, vulnerable and non-parent custody checks.

Harkins says payments will be collected electronically as part of the process.

Checks are available at opp.ca/recordchecks.

The fees for record checks remain unchanged:

Record checks: $41.00

Fingerprints: $90.00

Volunteer checks: free

Harkins adds on average, the OPP completes 140,000 police record checks every year.
