Indian Day School claims deadline coming up

Members of Sagamok-Anishnabek First Nation are approaching the deadline to make an Indian Day School claim.

According to the release, a claim can be made by anyone including a deceased person who attended Indian Day School, either at Sagamok, Sagamok R or River Road schools, in the community before the school closed in 1973.

The claim for the deceased can only be made for someone who passed away on or after July 31st, 2007.

Applicants must bring their identification, and in the case of someone who has passed, death certificate, will and authorized representative, as well as original claim forms and/or appeals file to St. Raphael’s Rectory.

The deadline is July 13th.
