Time off means time off

Starting this week, most of the employees of the City of Elliot Lake will disconnect from work.

The city’s Human Resources Coordinator, Blayne Croskery says when someone is off work, they should be truly disconnected from their workplace.

She says that means not answering phone calls, emails, video calls or other messages when workers are no longer on the clock.

Croskery says it is all part of the Right to Disconnect Program introduced by the province in 2021.

She emphasizes it will not impact on-call duty for employees who must be accessible in the off-hours or on call for emergencies.

Council unanimously endorsed the policy, which goes into effect this Thursday.
