Espanola complaints rising regarding garbage pickup

The Town of Espanola recently entered a contract with a new garbage pick-up company and some residents are not happy with the service.

Town clerk Joseph Burke says he is aware of some residents concerns that garbage is not being picked up citing the town entered a new contract with GFL Environmental, the new provider, a couple of weeks ago.

He says the town is aware of the concerns of the new contract, which has new requirements relating to the placement of garbage and recycling for pick-up.

Burke says a public notice was issued on May 11th as to the changes and a notice sent out in the mail.

He adds the mailout stipulates specifics for pickup, such as how far the garbage must be located by the road with those regulations coming into affect on May 20th.

Burke says residents should review the notice on the town’s website to meet the new regulations.

The notice can be accessed at the following link: https://www.espanola.ca/town-government/news-and-notices/articles/~187-Garbage-Recycling-Placement-Notice.
