Ontario storm leaves thousands without hydro

Tens of thousands of homes and businesses remain without power in Ontario and western Quebec, in the wake of Saturday’s massive line of thunderstorms that swept across the region.
At least ten deaths are being reported, mostly people struck by falling debris during the height of the storm.
In Ottawa, schools are closed today, and the city’s mayor is asking people to work from home, as crews struggle to replace hundreds of downed hydro poles.
More than 90-thousand customers in the capital are still without electricity.
Several schools are also closed in Durham region today, with heavy damage reported in the town of Uxbridge, about 50 kilometres northeast of Toronto.
Hydro officials say it could be several days yet before power is fully restored across the region.
