International Day of Pink activists to address students

An International Day of Pink activist will visit students at a Sudbury school today to discuss his experience with the Stonewall Riots.

Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School Principal Pam Potvin says Martin Boyce is visiting the school.

She says the Stonewall Riots were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the gay community in response to a police raid on June 28th, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in New York City.

Potvin adds their second guest Jeremy Dias won Canada’s second-largest human rights settlement against his school and the board using the funds to establish the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity, the International Day of Pink and the Jeremy Dias Scholarship.

She says the two will discuss the gay liberation movement and the fight for LGBT rights in the United States.
