Fire season is here – check with your local municipality or First Nation band office for the latest bans

There are several fires burning in the northeast including one of the Sagamok-Anishnawbek First Nation just east of Black Bass Lake.

As of late yesterday afternoon, there were 14 confirmed in the northeast including five new fires confirmed on Thursday.

Sudbury 9 in Sagamok started up early yesterday morning.

The community had to shut down the local landfill yesterday because there was no access and the fire is still not under control.

The bush is considered dry, and municipalities have put fire bans in place including the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers this week.
