Doug Gervais running for mayor in Espanola

The Town of Espanola has its first candidate for the municipal race this fall.

Sixty-nine-year-old Doug Gervais was born, raised and lived in Espanola all his life working for Public Works for 42 years.

Gervais says he has always wanted to run, and the timing is right since he is now fully retired and can devote himself full-time to the task of filling the mayor’s seat.

He says he has seen the disconnect between council, town administration and municipal employees, so his priority is to bring them together as a team working for the good of the community.

Gervais has experience serving the public as a trustee of the former North Shore Catholic school board, serving two terms as chair, and the former Espanola Hydro board as well as volunteering within the community.

The municipal election is slated for October 24th with nominations now open for council and school boards.

Married to Kathryn, Gervais and four grown children and nine grandchildren, also enjoying himself as a family man, and indulging in his hobbies including the great outdoors.
