Elliot Lake Secondary School students welcomed a recent field trip to learn more about firefighting, the skills and dedication involved, and general fire safety.
Students from the school’s Hospitality and Tourism Specialist High Skills Major Program took in the information at the Elliot Lake Fire Department last week.
The program provides students with the opportunity to focus on a potential career that meets their interests and skill levels while also fulfilling the requirements for them to graduate.
Fire Captain Dave George ran the session, which included how to properly use an extinguisher and a firsthand look at equipment worn by the firefighters and available on their specialized vehicles.
