Science North is undertaking an expansion to Sault Ste. Marie through a new, two-year pilot project.
Jennifer Booth, the Interim CEO of Science North says the science centre is planning to broaden its reach in the Algoma region through the pilot project that will establish a programming and outreach hub.
She says the hub would have three to five bluecoats on-site, grow Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs; and continue to partner with Indigenous communities and organizations in the region.
She adds the hub will be located on Queen Street East in the centre of the city, will eventually be open to schools and visitors once staffing is complete.
Booth was part of the official ribbon-cutting of the new hub held on Friday.
