Community garden season set to go in Espanola

Algoma Community Garden enthusiasts in Espanola will be out this weekend prepping the area.

Spokesperson Grant Lewis says a work party is set for this Saturday morning at 9:30 am to build four new garden boxes.

He says members, who maintain their own garden box during the summer months, pay a $20 membership fee to the Espanola Gardeners and an additional $10 for the garden box.

The initiative is a great way for families to grow their own produce and/or share fresh veggies with their friends and neighbours.

He adds the community garden is located beside Algoma Park and volunteers are more than welcome.

Those who sign up for the program will be provided with a key for secure access to maintain their garden box as they see fit.
