Both Elliot Lake and Blind River councils have proclaimed May as Community Living Algoma Month.
Community Living Awareness Month is a province-wide initiative created to celebrate the values of Community Living, which are inclusion, equality and respect.
CLA has provided supports and services to people with intellectual disabilities and their families in the Blind River and surrounding district since 1954.
It now provides services to 335 adults and 397 children across the Algoma District.

The organization will host a variety of community inclusion events throughout the month.
Espanola Community Living is also hosting a fundraiser to replace one of its vans.
