Elliot Lake council to decide on Uranium Day budget

Elliot Lake council will be making some decisions tonight on how much to budget for the Uranium Festival, and where and what events should be held.

Recreation and culture manager Karilynn Kluke will discuss three budget options and three venues for this year’s street dance, a major focal point of Uranium Days.

She is recommending the city budget just over $25,000 to host the event in the Centennial Arena parking lot and book entertainment based on council’s recommendations.

She adds there are few headliners available on such short notice for the local festival, which is being held on the July 1st holiday weekend.

Time will be of the essence, so council is expected to make recommendations to staff to finalize events and bookings as soon as possible.

The council meeting will be live-streamed at 7 pm tonight.
