SPORTS – Espanola Express forward wins award, Thunderbirds takes first semi-final win

Espanola Express player wins NOJHL award

Kobe Braham, a forward with the Espanola Express has received an award from the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Braham has been presented with the Mitch Tetreault Memorial Trophy as best defensive forward of the 2021-22 season.

Braham led all league players in shorthanded goals and was also tops in man-down points.

Thunderbirds hold off Beavers in Game 1 win
A Kelsey Ouellet goal off an Andrew Gibson feed 12 and a half minutes into the second period proved to be the game-winner as the Soo Thunderbirds held off the Blind River Beavers 3-2 last night.

Thursday was the opening contest of their Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League West Division semifinal series.

Game 2 goes Saturday at 7 pm in Sault Ste. Marie.
