Blind River council has appointed its municipal weed inspector.
Blind River Fire Chief Ken Raymond has been appointed by council as its municipal weed inspector in his role as director of protective services.
Council says weeds are not a big issue, but when it comes to property standards, it can become a problem, so Raymond will oversee weed control in town under the provisions of the Weed Control Act.
The Act provides for different ways to identify and handle noxious weeds on properties and for fines that can be levied against property owners and tenants who fail to follow a weed inspector’s recommendations.
